Spyware

Nobody will argue that spyware has become a major threat; losses caused by data theft to state institutions, e-commerce, and banking are incredibly high and are constantly growing. Anti-spyware developers are now in the vicious circle of constant "spy hunt", trying to include as many spyware signatures (pieces of code used for spyware detection) into their databases as possible - and fast! Faster, to outrun the competitors; faster, for new spyware - which is being written and released all the time – not to spread like a wildfire.

People who are (or at least think themselves to be) witty, often quote Murphy's laws. One of them says that the most significant part of a machine is, as a rule, the least reliable one. It is indeed so in software development as well. Unfortunately, the most vital part of anti-spy and anti-virus software - a signature base - is the least reliable component of a program. Signature bases do need constant updating. And even the latest updates are incomplete – not all the programs that can be used for spy purposes are listed there. The radical solution to this problem is not to use signature bases at all.

Using a signature base means that the program protects against software which it recognizes as spy programs. Only programs from the signature base are recognized; all other spy programs will be running unnoticed and unstopped. If the user is lucky enough not to come across some spy program not listed in the signature base, his PC is protected. Until it does meet some of these unlisted spy programs.

Software like Anti-Keylogger and PrivacyKeyboard makes all the difference. It simply disables any program which acts as spy software. It does not matter whether the spyware is well-known or brand-new, or maybe tailor-made for a one-time use (like spy programs made specially for one particular task, such as espionage) – all they won't work anyway.

Protection against even unknown keyloggers that aren't listed in any signature bases yet makes these products a solution to one of the crucial problems of contemporary world.
