1. General information
Various software products created specially for stealth PC monitoring have become really common and widespread. One can easily find plenty of sources in the Web devoted to technical, legal, political, ethical and other aspects of this problem.
There are monitoring software products, which are especially dangerous. They can be secretly installed (as a rule, remotely) without the knowledge of the particular PC owner or security administrator of the automated system. This category of monitoring products can be called "spy programs".
Spy programs severely threaten security of either an individual PC or networked computer systems. One of the most dangerous features of all spy software is its ability to register (to log) all keystrokes made by the user. When the user types his password or his credit cards details on the keyboard, at this very moment his every keystroke might be recorded. Besides, modern spy software allows capturing text from application windows. In other words, spy software can intercept the text from a document even if the user does not type it on the keyboard, but just opens and views the file.
What are illegally installed keylogging programs, i.e. spy programs, used for?
With these programs, the violator can:
- illegally intercept other people's information;
- perform economic espionage;
- perform political espionage;
- obtain unauthorized access to the "bank-client" systems;
- obtain unauthorized access to cryptographic systems of the personal computer user - to public and private keys, password phrases;
- obtain unauthorized access to authorization data of credit cards;
- etc.
To detect and disable such monitoring software products, which can be installed without the knowledge of a PC user, anti-monitoring programs of various types are currently used. They provide more or less effective protection – but they can protect exclusively against KNOWN spy programs because they apply signature analysis. It means that any developer of an anti-spy program should get a sample of some spy program, pick out its signature and include it into the base, so that the anti-spy program could protect against this particular spy program. As soon as the signature base is updated, PC users get an opportunity to struggle with this kind of spy software. This is the way most anti-virus and anti-spy software work.
Unfortunately, anti-spy programs based on this principle are totally helpless against UNKNOWN keylogging programs. They can be divided into five groups:
- Spy software developed by (or for) government organizations. For example, Magic Lantern, the brainchild of the Cyber Knight project (USA).

- Spy software, which the developers of an operating system may deliberately have included into its kernel.

- Spy software developed in a limited quantity (often in one or several copies) for a particular task, e.g. espionage. Hackers often use such programs – they take source codes of spy software from the Internet, change them a bit, so that the signature is also changed, and compile a new spy program, unknown to anti-spy software.

- Commercial monitoring software products, especially corporate ones, are rarely included into signature bases.

- Keylogging modules comprised viruses or Trojan horse programs are unknown until they are included into signature bases. For example, some worldwide-known viruses which caused much trouble last years had a module for keystroke capturing and sending the obtained information to the Internet.

What are the means of protection against spy software?
First, modern antivirus products. But antivirus products can't protect users against a virus if its signature hasn't been included into their signature bases yet. Since newest viruses pretty often contain a keylogging module, the user's information is likely to be stolen if the signature base of the anti-virus he uses doesn't have this signature yet or if the user hasn't updated the signature base of his anti-virus.
Second, personal firewalls. The problem is that they usually ask the user lots of questions. Even an experienced user can make a mistake when configuring his firewall. Many commercial monitoring programs hide inside programs with access to the Internet, such as browsers, mail clients, etc. As a result, information gets stolen anyway and sent via the Internet to the address the hacker prepared.
Unlike all these programs:
PrivacyKeyboard is the product that constantly works in the background mode, asking the user no needless questions, so the user is unlikely to make a mistake while answering them.
PrivacyKeyboard blocks almost all programs which capture keystrokes; what's more – it does not use signature bases. It became possible due to the newly developed solutions and algorithms that enabled PrivacyKeyboard to distinguish the process of keylogging spy programs apply from activity of any other application installed in the system.
PrivacyKeyboard for Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP provides every computer with strong protection against all types of keylogging programs (software keyloggers), both known and unknown, currently in use or being developed at the present moment.
PrivacyKeyboard is capable to counteract various types of keylogging programs possibly included in any commercial, shareware, freeware products, as well as in Trojan horses, viruses of very different operation principles. Due to the PrivacyKeyboard's protection spy software will not be able to record and steal your sensitive information, passwords, logins, PIN (Personal Identification Number) etc.
Since PrivacyKeyboard does not use any signature bases, it can protect against even unknown software keyloggers!
PrivacyKeyboard works transparently for the user and silently, asks no questions, so the user is less likely to make a mistake.
Key features
PrivacyKeyboard has unique features that favorably distinguish it from other anti-spy products:
- No signature base;
- Full UNICODE support;
- Multiprocessor & hypherthreading architectures support;
- Windows® 2000/XP support;
- Transparent "on-the-fly" protection;
- Instant and constant protection;
- Protection against keystroke capturing;
- Protection against windows text capturing;
- Protection against clipboard capturing;
- Fast and easy installation and configuration;
- Free upgrades and lifetime support;
- Multilanguage interface;
- 30 Days money back guarantee.
The anti-keylogging protection starts instantly at the moment of the operating system loading and before the user logs in the system; it automatically deactivates all the running keylogging programs and modules.
Solutions
PrivacyKeyboard has been designed to help you solve a wide range of problems in business and daily life:
- Prevent identity theft;
- Prevent Internet banking fraud;
- Secure email communication, instant messaging and chat;

- And many other.
Benefits
Unlike many existing anti-spy programs, PrivacyKeyboard will protect your information:
- Faster,
because the user doesn't have to wait until signature bases have been updated (as it is in antivirus and other programs) while the keylogger-containing virus steals your sensitive information.
- More effectively,
because the program works constantly and silently, asking the user no questions so the user is less likely to make a mistake when making decisions.
- Cheaper,
because you don't have to pay for the signature base updating as you will have to with many other anti-spy and anti-virus software products.
If you are a computer user, if you are a business owner, if you work in law enforcement, government or military agencies - PrivacyKeyboard will help you.
